Day
Four
Well the meet is slowly coming to
and end. Two days left to go and I still have one more event (and relays) to
do. Tomorrow, I will be swimming the 50 backstroke. I am really pumped for this event because it is probably my
favorite one. I’ll also be swimming in the 200 Free and 400 Medley Relays.
Today I don’t have anything to swim because our relay didn’t make the 800 Free
cut. Oh well. It should be nice to be able to have a day of rest. It is amazing
how exhausting this meet is! Even though I have only swam in one individual
event and two relays I find myself falling to sleep in no time at all during
the night. But I guess that is something I will have to get used to because I
will hopefully be coming back in the future, but then again, I will know what
to expect and how I need to manage my time. I think that it is good to come to
Nationals while you’re young because when you come back when you are older,
you’ll be able to manage your time better because you know how the meet runs
and what days are longer, what days are shorter, and what days you’ll need to
rest more than others. At least I am glad I came to the meet at 13 because next
year when I come back, I’ll know what to expect. Of course the meet will have a
few changes every year, but the bulk of it will be the same.
During the past few days, I’ve
noticed how supportive everyone here at the meet is. I have had many swimmers
and coaches come up to me and ask, “Why do you write Nikki on your arm?” As
some of you might not know, Nikki was a swimmer on LEHY who passed away last
year from cancer. She was only 14 years old, but in her sort time here, she
taught all of us about friendship, something a book or teacher could never
teach us. She always had a smile on her face, even if she was ill and even
though she’s gone, she still seems to amaze me everyday. Well every meet, LEHY
always writes “Nikki” on our arm as a remembrance of her. It’s great when
swimmers that I don’t know, come up to me and ask me about her. At first it was
hard to tell people about Nikki, but everyone has been so supportive and has
helped me through these hard times, even here at this meet. Now I know why
everyone who has gone to this meet said they loved it so much. Yes they loved
swimming, but more importantly, they loved the atmosphere. I wish all of you
could be here to understand what I am trying to say because I don’t think words
can exactly say what I am trying to explain.
Anyways, as you all know, yesterday, we went to 6
Flags. It was a blast! Allie never went on the Superman, so I was stuck sitting
with Greg. Just kidding. He was so funny when we went on the ride, but I
couldn’t believe that Kaeley went on the ride! If you could of seen the picture
of her on the ride! It was almost as good as Mrs. Jackwin’s picture when she
went on! Then Casey, Sarah, Alison and I went on this other ride that went from
0-90 in like two seconds! It was scary! After that we went on a few more rides
then we hit the water park. Kaeley, Allie, Kelly and I went on the Lazy Boy. It
was so funny when Kaeley was in the tube fixing her hair because all of the
sudden she wasn’t there! She felling right through the whole in the tube and
went under water! Then Kelly was pretending to be a Hammerhead shark, I have to
admit she did get some funny look from other people. But Kelly is just very
outgoing like that!
We finally ended our day watching Harry Potter and
eating some yummy pasta! Like I said before, I was extremely tired and went
right to bed. But all of you can probably tell why! Well I know this was a
rather long entry, but I just had so much to day! Tomorrows will probably be
just as long because it is the last day, but you never know!
Swimcerely~
