Hey Fishes,
I’m sitting here in my Mardi Gras costume, almost feeling like a complete fool in my beads and gold shirt and feathered mask. Here, I have to acknowledge Nick and Neal, our two male swimmers who dressed… well amazing. Thanks for being good sports guys!
The first day of Nationals started off great. In the breaststroke three talented girls swam the races of their lives. Lizzy, Sarah, and Amy… someday you’re going to have to teach me to do the breaststroke. Neal, swam the 50 breaststroke and knocked a full second of his time. WOW! Kate was our 100 backstroker and bettered her time by 2 seconds and finally nailed her start. In the 200 IM Amy had an awesome swim pulling ahead in her best stroke the breast. In the 50 free I swam a best time, and just missed making it back a night, 21st- they bring 16 swimmers back. However, I am pleased and have 3 more races to come back in. Nick also swam the 50 free and for not practicing for 3 months did incredible. He not only got his best time but also re-made his cut time for next year. Just remember you have to swim all summer to come back to Nationals next year! Kate, Amy, Sarah, and I swam the 200 medley relay in that order. We did a great job, but we all know we could have done better. Watch out Maryland for the 400 Medley Relay. Awesome job guys!
Tonight, Opening Ceremonies was a lot of fun. This being my first Nationals I had a blast. Our costumes were the hit of the show, especially the boys. Here I want to thank my mom and dad for making this experience come alive for me and supporting me 100%, I couldn’t have done it without you!
Here, I have to mention my team back home, I miss all of you. Without you all training by our sides we would not be here. So thanks! Now I have to say a special hello to Little Me- Jen! I miss you and wish you were here… too bad you’re not old enough yet.
A note for the swimmers who have not raced yet, Kelsey, Courtney, Kira, and Emily… good luck in the days coming up. You’ll do great! Also, Paul keep up the great coaching. You’re one of a kind and I think the whole team agrees that your making this experience great for us swimmers. Well I’m being rushed along, so I am going to go. Until next time.
Love,
