Hola mis amigos,

Welcome to day 2 of Summer Nationals in Maryland.  It has yet again been an exciting and exhausting day.  Waking up at 5:45 am in the summer is really starting to take its toll on me, but knowing that I have a fun-filled day ahead of me gets me going.  Today I only swam a relay, no individual events.  At first I was excited about not have to swim with all the pressure, but now, as I look back on the day I realize that I missed the satisfaction of getting up and racing from your heart.

To give an overview of the day:

400 Freestyle Relay- swum by Kate, Kelsey, Sarah, and I did amazing.  We exceeded all expectations

200 Breastroke- swum by Lizzy, Sarah, and Amy all posted best times

100 Butterfly- Kira’s first swim!!!!  OW OW!  And a big congratulation goes out to Sarah for finishing 17th and knocking 2 seconds of her best.  You cease to amaze me.

200 Freestyle- swum by Kate.  I don’t know how you do it!  Cutting 3 seconds off was truly an amazing race to watch.

Unfortunately no one from our team made it back at night.  We are still waiting for that, but I don’t doubt that it will happen.  Also, there was no dressing in costumes and parading around the pool deck, something that the Hurricanes dominate.  The afternoon I rested while the team went to the mall.  However, dinner was delicious.  Tomorrow, Emily will swim her first event of the meet, good luck, you’ll do great.  Courtney, keep waiting for that 50 backstroke, it will come before you know it.  Nick and Neal, I am jealous that you are done, but not that jealous.  Hello to everyone at home, I miss you!  I’m out.

                        Lots of Love,

                                                Liz Mancuso
