CANCELLATION OF 2020 YMCA LONG COURSE NATIONALS
To all YMCA Long Course athletes, families and coaches:

As the COVID-19 crisis continues to evolve, YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) remains focused on supporting YMCAs and our communities through unprecedented and unpredictable circumstances.

The pandemic has severely impacted sporting and athletic events for 2020, including the NCAA, NHL, MLB and several others. It has also led to the International Olympic Committee's decision to postpone the Summer Olympic Games for the first time in history, from 2020 until 2021.

In light of the current reality, and in order to reduce the risk to all athletes, coaches and spectators, Y-USA has made the decision to cancel the YMCA Long Course National Championship, scheduled to take place in Greensboro, North Carolina July 28 - August 1, 2020.

This was not an easy decision for Y-USA to make. We recognize this will be incredibly disappointing for the athletes, teams and families who were looking forward to the Long Course competition season. We will continue to work to find ways to recognize and honor the achievements and hard work of athletes and teams who will not get to compete in 2020.

We will share further updates as they become available. Thank you for your understanding as we work to ensure the viability, health and safety of our Y community.

Sincerely,

YMCA of the USA
